Humpback Whales of Vava'u
The Humpback Whales have been coming to the islands of Vava’u for centuries. Between June and October they come to the safety of these waters to give birth and mate. The calm warm seas provide the perfect nursery for Humpback mothers and their new born calves.
Humpbacks put on great displays of pectoral and fluke slapping and often breach by throwing nearly their entire bodies into the air.
Tonga is one of the few places in the South Pacific where you can swim with Humpback whales. Vava'u is the best place in the world to experience the full majesty of one of natures largest Cetaceans. Calm sheltered waters near breathtaking emerald islands offer the safest and most comfortable experience. The sandy beaches and incredible marine life make Vava'u simply the ultimate backdrop in which to view one of this planets age old migrations.
